Cerebral Palsy Alliance

Cerebral Palsy Alliance

Ryde Toyota has maintained a partnership with the Cerebral Palsy Alliance for more than 26 years. Their annual flagship fundraising event, The Escape, stands as the pinnacle gala charity event for the Cerebral Palsy Alliance, boasting remarkable success in Australia's philanthropic landscape. Since its inception in 1994, this event has garnered over $20.4 million in support.

Cerebral palsy is a condition that directly impacts an individual's mobility, stemming from brain damage incurred either during pregnancy or shortly after birth. With over 34,000 people affected by cerebral palsy in Australia alone, it stands as the most prevalent physical disability in childhood.

Statistics indicate that 1 in every 700 children in Australia is born with cerebral palsy. We firmly believe in the significance of supporting this cause, dedicating our time, efforts, and resources alongside many others to raise crucial research funds.

Ryde Toyota are proud to be a beacon of hope towards those with cerebral palsy and continue to support fundraising events like Steptember and The Escape to raise awareness and assist those affected by cerebral palsy.

A message from our Managing Director Ian Mayer

"I have been with the Cerebral Palsy Alliance for 30 years. I chair an event for them which now raises between $2 million and $3 million a year.

It just came about by accident. I was invited to a golf day and I saw the great work that the Cerebral Palsy Alliance was doing and I thought to myself, 'it can be a pretty difficult life for a person with cerebral palsy and their family', so I decided then and there to give them my support

I just think if you are in a position to help people you should do it."

Steptember

In September, a number of our team members actively take part in Steptember, Australia's premier virtual health and wellness fundraiser for cerebral palsy. This initiative involves committing to walking 10,000 steps daily throughout the month to raise funds for individuals affected by cerebral palsy and other disabilities. Chatswood & Ryde Toyota have consistently supported this fundraising event and are ranked third on the leaderboard as a top fundraiser. Our Managing Director Ian Mayer has also participated in this fundraising event leading the individual fundraising category with over $121,000.
